Young Adult Time Travel Adventure: Discount Kindle Book

Editor’s Note: In KEEPER OF THE BLACK STONES Jason Evans must save time itself, or risk the destruction of the world.

Book Description:  An eminently normal boy is thrust into extraordinary circumstances when he finds that his grandfather holds ancient stones that allow time travel. And he’s not the only one — a madman is jumping back in time to change the course of history and take over the world. Now Jason Evans must gather his friends, jump back into Medieval England, and help Henry VII win the War of the Roses, or risk the destruction of the world itself.

Readers who love Percy Jackson, Harry Potter, Leven Thumps, and Artemis Fowl will enjoy this book

Author’s Inspiration: I wanted to create a series for kids and their parents to read together. I’ve always been a big fan of history, and my favorite cartoon growing up was Johnny Quest (best cartoon ever made!), so I thought, wouldn’t it be cool if I combined my two loves into a story? I sat down and started writing, and before long Jason, Doc, Reis, and Paul (and later on, Katherine and Tatiana) were back in Old England, doing their best to beat the bad guy and save the world. What more could you ask?

PT McHugh

I’ve always enjoyed writing, especially the creative process. I’ve been dreaming about becoming an author since I was in high school, and I started writing when I was in college. I didn’t get serious about it until recently, when I actually sat down, chained myself to my desk at night, and actually did it. In regard to why I decided to write YA, it basically came down to enjoyment. I may be 40 years old, but in my heart I’m still 12. I started writing it for my girls, and then it evolved into writing it for myself, and everyone else who loves a great adventure. I absolutely love writing my books, and I hope everyone who reads them loves the stories as much as I do.

Book Description: Chiku Flynn is a teenage girl quite unlike any other. There are no vampires, werewolves, or wizards, but her world in the Congolese rain forest is just as mystical and dangerous. Unlike the teenage heroes of Twilight and Harry Potter, Chiku is fighting a real battle against real enemies.

Author’s Inspiration: I lived in Africa in the mid-1970s. I have been a lifelong enthusiast of anthropology and the evolution of mankind. My original version was actually written in the late ’70s.

Peter Clenott

My writing career began after I completed my last college exam. I remember sitting in the student lounge area on the campus of UMass/Amherst. I don’t know that I had a plan of action or an outline or the least idea of what I was about to undertake. I wrote long hand, made edits with an eraser, crafted several drafts all in that same notebook and finished the masterpiece, titled THE THIRD WORLD, on a typewriter. Manual not electric. This was in May 1973, nearly forty years to the day Imajin Books signed me to a contract for DEVOLUTION. I settled in Boston and became involved with the housing movement in that city at a time when gentrification was uprooting neighborhoods and sparking arson-for-profit. I have been working in the housing field ever since from tenant organizing, to public housing advocate, to working with homeless families.

Book Description: Sun Tzu once wrote, “Know your enemy,”
but what if you have an enemy you know nothing about, not even a name? And what
if that enemy seemingly knew everything about you, even the smallest details?
That’s Taliesin Weaver’s problem–well, one of them, anyway. He is still coming
to terms with his unique ability to remember all his former lives, an ability
his enemy is also familiar with and seems to want to exploit in some dark way.
Unless Tal can figure out a way to fight back, he knows he won’t make it to
seventeen…

From Book: Stan was indeed there. Having tossed my guitar
case down roughly on the ground, he was rummaging through the fencing
equipment, tossing the foils on the ground one by one, clearly disappointed so
far. Without hesitation I lunged for the guitar case. I was quick, but “Stan”
was quicker, noticing my presence, charging in my direction and smacking me aside
before I could get within ten feet of the instrument. I rolled and was back on
my feet almost before I hit the ground. However, “Stan’s” blow had been much
harder than Stan, or probably even Dan Stevens, could have administered, and it
left me a little wobbly. Indeed, if the thing had pressed its advantage, I
might have been dead, but instead it made a grab for the last foil in the bag
and then gave a triumphant, un-Stanlike scream as it raised high above its
head, not a fencing foil, but a real sword, its blade flashing in the sunlight
as the last bits of the foil illusion that had surrounded it melted away.

What can I say? I have been writing as long as I
can remember, and writing things that other people might actually want to read
at least since high school. It was teaching, however, that finally inspired me
to publish. It seemed inconsistent to me to keep encouraging my students to
follow their dreams if I was keeping one of mine locked up in a drawer
somewhere. “Living with Your Past Selves” is the first fruit of my
decision to publish, a labor of love that will both thrill readers and move
them.

Daniel Koeker

I have been writing books since the day I could pick up a pencil, though admittedly that says nothing for their quality. I have put my love of the written word to good use, writing a number of books, and also running a manuscript editing company with my fiancee. I am a heavy gamer, playing everything from Dragon Age to StarCraft, and I am thoroughly convinced that chocolate is the best thing ever made.

Book Description: A teenage wizard burdened with a mysterious
destiny, a cat-girl ninja he can’t help but fall for, and a bat-winged daemon
that doubles as a diary embark on a journey of self-discovery in a world
teeming with monsters and magic.

Author’s Inspiration: I
wanted to write the kind of story I most wanted to read as a young teen but
couldn’t find.

Book Excerpt : When
he’d arrived for his studies, Turesobei had placed his spell books on a table
beneath the open east window. He stomped over, swept the books into his arms,
and rushed out. But without realizing it, he took one book too many, a book
that wasn’t supposed to be there, a book that hadn’t been there until a few
moments ago. It was, in fact, a book unknown to Lord Kahenan or any other
living wizard. Awake for the first time in centuries, the arcane runes embossed
on the cover shimmered beneath Turesobei’s touch, and if not for his anger, he
might have felt the subtle pulse of magic.

David Alastair Hayden

One might ask,
“Why,
 David,
do you write fast-paced tales of fantastic adventure?” Short answer: I
don’t like slow and I’m a big fan of things fantastic! If you count looking at
colorful images as reading (and who doesn’t?), I’ve been reading comics all my
life. So that’s where it began. Early on, I got caught up in the idea of space
travel, but the charming bunk that is The Sirius Mystery transitioned me from
astronomy to ancient history and the fine art of making up stuff.

I live in Alabama, along with five cats and my delightful wife and fellow
author, Pepper Thorn. I studied history, literature, and religion at the
University of Alabama. I practice the Yang Taijiquan long form and I enjoy
reading about nutrition. I love the Redskins and Crimson Tide football.
